Week 5

Half way through the term and ouch should I say it!  "Only 43 more sleeps till Christmas".

An update about the Ahurei which will take place at the Harvest Centre (Malfroy Road, near the Netball Courts) on Friday the 24th of November at 7.30 pm. Limited tickets are for sale, so get in quick - Note: Ticketing has a VERY tight time frame due to the sudden closure of the Howard Morrison Centre and the very late change of venue. Tickets can be purchased from the School Office.

Swimming this week - due to the seniors having swim coaching, this week we will only be swimming on Monday and Friday (2 days).

This Friday our school is holding a mufti day, gold coin donation, come dressed as your favourite book character. Money raised will be gifted to the Special Children's Christmas Party. This is a nationwide event for children and their families who have life threatening illness, physical and intellectual impairments, domestic violence, or living in underprivileged circumstances. Money raised will be gifted so those children can have a day of fun and adventures and put smiles on many NZ kids faces.

Young Vinnies Can drive - please help support those who are less fortunate than ourselves and donate a tin can of food. This will be run over the next couple of weeks, so if everybody in our class brought one or two cans each we will collect between 25 - 50 cans of food for the needy. Each can brought in will receive one house point.

Teacher Only Day - Monday 27th November
Student Led Conference/celebration day - Thursday 30th November
Junior Big Day Out - 7th December, more information will come later along with permission slip but Rooms 7 and 11 will be going to Hannah's Bay for some fun in the sun. We will need parental help so i'm just giving you a heads up at this stage in case you want to book the day off work.

This week I will be doing running records on all children so our reading block will not run as usual. Your child may end up having the same book for a couple of nights but still encourage them to read it for fluency and recognition of high frequency words.

Thanks Nikki
