Week 10

Wow can you believe it, it's the last week of term 2 already!

The draw for the All Black prizes will take place this Friday at assembly. This week is the last chance children will have in getting a ticket/tickets for the draw. To get a ticket your child needs to complete at least 2 reading eggs level per week. So far everybody in our class has at least 2 tickets in the draw. Those who have completed an exceptional amount of levels over the past few weeks will receive an extra ticket this week. The reading eggs programme helps your child with reading, phonics, sentence structure etc and is a valuable tool in their learning. They do get opportunities to use this programme during the day but may also access it at home.

The holiday reading programme is on again these holidays. The prizes this time are: UE Boom, 2 walkie talkies and lots of other little prizes. The top class of total children participating in the holiday reading programme and bringing their form back into class in term 3 will also get a pizza lunch. Children can start entering their books as soon as they get their logs (Monday or Tuesday this week) and the draw will take place in the second week of Term 3). Please encourage your child to continue with their reading over the holidays (if you would like some books at their level please come and see me or send a note with your child and I will arrange. It is important that these books are taken care of and returned as they are school property). Important: please make sure that your child is not only reading the book but that they understand what they are reading, ask them some questions to check on their comprehension.

Monday - I will be attending a Te Whariki workshop this afternoon. Mrs Tootill will take the class from 1.30 pm.

Thursday 6th July - Matariki school disco - 5.30 - 7pm in the hall. Come dressed up and dance the night away.

To celebrate the end of term I thought we would have a pizza lunch this Friday. I will supply some pizzas for our class (let me know if your child has any food allergies, will buy simply cheese, Hawaiian, pepperoni)

I hope that you have a wonderful holiday with your children at the end of this week. I am looking forward to spending some time with my children along with planning for next term.

Nikki
